At Westfield Health, we’ve always believed in the mantra that prevention and early intervention is better than cure, and that a little TLC can deliver big dividends in ROI for businesses.
In fact, some of our own recent research has found that 80% of UK employers strongly believe that investing in employee health and wellbeing is good for business. But 76% don’t actually measure return on investment when it comes to health and wellbeing initiatives.
And, it’s been widely reported that the health of Britain’s workforce is currently a cause for concern. Employers now face a yearly bill of around £9 billion for sick pay and its associated costs (ONS, 2014) while a staggering 131 million days were lost due to sickness absence in 2013, costing the UK economy £100 billion.
These are sobering statistics. So, the importance of having a robust health and wellbeing strategy can’t be underestimated.
With this in mind we’ve been very busy here at HQ developing our new toolkit which we’re very excited to be launching at this year’s upcoming EBLive event. We’ll be revealing a new way of thinking that will help HR Managers win the health and wellbeing case for their company.
The new Health and Wellbeing Toolkit contains valuable resources designed to help companies develop a robust strategy, covering every important step: defining the right health and wellbeing strategy, developing a powerful business case to win the investment, choosing the right health and wellbeing partner, implementing a strategy and engaging with staff, and finally measuring performance.
And, all our tools have been developed in conjunction with Health@Work, a leading authority within The Workplace Wellbeing Charter, which provides a clear structure in developing health, safety and wellbeing strategies.
Of course, wanting to stay at the forefront of keeping people fit and healthy isn’t new for us. We’ve been doing it since we started and we still hold those same beliefs and values almost 100 years on. It’s this ethos that continues to drive us today.
EBLive takes place at London Olympia on the 21st and 22nd of September. We’ll be on stand 509 ready to chat, so, if you’re there, we hope you’ll drop in and see us for a tea or coffee on us and find out how we can help develop your health and wellbeing plan.
Employee Benefits Live is free to attend, so why not take a look at the programme and book your tickets at employeebenefitslive.co.uk.
